General Music/Choral/Instrumental Teacher, K-8

Lesley Ellis, an independent preschool-grade 8 school, seeks experienced general music/choral/instrumental teacher candidates who are adept at providing a positive and engaging music program for students Kindergarten through Grade 8.

Candidates should be able to foster and maintain student engagement. We are looking for an individual who will bring expertise and enthusiasm to teaching, have the desire to work closely with colleagues to ensure an engaging and positive experience, and have a strong commitment to an anti-bias approach.

Responsibilities include:
  • Implement an innovative, creative, and developmentally appropriate curriculum for students in Kindergarten through Grade 8 that includes wind instruments in middle school
  • Conduct choirs; make and select appropriate musical arrangements for choirs.
  • Facilitate the music portions of all school events (e.g. Spring Visiting Day) and elementary/middle school events (e.g. Evening of the Arts).
  • Incorporate a variety of teaching techniques to engage all students and promote learning.
  • Work collaboratively with other teachers and administrators.
  • Provide positive guidance techniques to maintain a child-centered, developmentally based environment.
  • Demonstrate a respect for diversity among faculty and students. Promote an environment which values diversity and infuses an anti-bias curriculum and approach.

    Qualifications:
  • B.A. or M.A. in music education
  • Experience with elementary and/or middle school students
  • Commitment to actively work toward an inclusive, antiracist and anti-bias school environment
