Job Description

Primary Purpose:

 

In cooperation with the Coordinator of Curriculum and Instruction, provides support for districts through the Texas Covid Learning Acceleration System, TCLAS, needs assessment process and Texas Education Agency TCLAS supported programs, provides support, and facilitates High Impact Tutoring and the Texas Instructional Leadership Initiative.

 

Qualifications:

 

              Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Texas teaching certification required
  • Texas school administrator certification preferred

              Special Knowledge/Skills/Experience:

  • Instructional leadership experience preferred
  • Experience instructional coaching and intervention required
  • Successful classroom teaching experience, experience with the TEKS Resource System, experience in instructional coaching or related activities, and experience working with campus level administrators required
  • Demonstrated ability to set goals and problem solve
  • Demonstrated ability to manage time, calendar, job responsibilities, and travel
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to team and organizational goals
  • Experience with teacher evaluation and support (e.g., classroom walkthrough, formative feedback, goal setting, etc.) preferred
  • Proven ability to deliver content-specific professional development as well as systemic best practice (e.g., campus-wide/district-wide) professional development
  • Proven ability to train and coach personnel in various school roles (e.g., teachers, support staff, principals, central office staff, superintendent)
  • Experience as a campus administrator preferred 

Working Conditions: 

  • Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals
  • Posture: Must be physically able to tolerate prolonged sitting, frequent standing; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, twisting, and standing
  • Motion: Must be physically able to tolerate frequent standing and walking, repetitive hand motions, frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching, occasional driving
  • Lifting: Must be physically able to tolerate regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); may require occasional heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds or more)

  • Mental Demands: Must be able to work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress; work prolonged or irregular hours on occasion

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Provides effective, research-based instructional support for campuses in Region 16 for High Impact Tutoring and TCLAS.
  2. Facilitates the needs assessment process for the TCLAS Initiative, Texas Covid Learning Acceleration System.
  3. Provides technical assistance to districts around grant development and grant writing.
  4. Communicates effectively with superintendents, principals and the appropriate staff to develop a systemic process to enhance student performance.
  5. Provides effective instructional coaching around the ESC designated model to districts upon request.
  6. Records accurate documentation of all technical assistance provided to districts.
  7. Utilizes content and pedagogical expertise to design and execute engaging professional development (face-to-face or alternative methods) around best practices in successful PD.
  8. Collaborates with colleagues in and beyond the ESC to identify professional development needs through detailed data analysis and self-reflection.
  9. Sets, modifies, and meets short- and long-term professional goals based on self-assessment, reflection, peer and supervisor feedback, contemporary research, and analysis of student learning.
  10. Works collaboratively with all Region 16 personnel and district personnel to provide quality services to customers that positively impact student learning.
  11. Manages a state or federal grant, if applicable, and follows all guidelines and timelines outlined in the grant.
  12. Provides state mandated trainings, if applicable.
  13. Creates on-going collegial relationships with customers.
  14. Travels as a part of job responsibilities.
  15. Maintains a functioning cell phone and is accessible through this phone as deemed appropriate by the director. A functioning cell phone means that it is charged, activated, messages checked, and mailbox emptied regularly.
  16. Reports for work ready to perform responsibilities.
  17. Performs duties that directly and/or indirectly impact student performance in Region 16.
  18. Maintains a professional level of confidentiality regarding all ESC matters.
  19. Supports the mission, goals, and objectives of the ESC strategic plan.
  20. Upholds and adheres to safety rules and policies of the ESC safety program.
  21. Performs professional responsibilities as required by ESC policies, processes, and procedures.
  22. Manages time, calendar, and job responsibilities to meet deadlines.
  23. Meets proficiency levels of required technology skills as outlined by supervisor.
  24. Incorporates appropriate technology in daily work and exhibits continual growth in technologies as outlined by supervisor.
  25. Performs other duties as assigned.
