Job Title: Food Service/Cafeteria Worker
Hours:Full Time
Department: EASTCONN Food Services at Horace Porter School
Reports to: Director of Food Services

The job of the Food Service Worker was established for the purpose/s of providing support to the food service activities with specific responsibilities for preparing and serving food items to students and/or school personnel, operating the cash registers and maintaining food service facilities in a safe and sanitary condition.

Performs a variety of tasks concerned with the preparation and serving of foods and beverages
Clean work areas, equipment, utensils, dishes, and silverware
Washes, peels, scrapes, and cuts vegetables and fruits
Prepare a variety of foods according to supervisors' instructions, following approved NSLP Guidelines
Dishes out portions of foods on trays or plates
Cleans kitchen equipment, pots and pans, counters, and tables
Sweeps and mops floors
Store food in designated containers and storage areas to prevent spoilage
Package take-out foods and/or serve food to students
Portion and wrap the food, or place it directly on trays for service to students
Place food trays over food warmers for immediate service, or store them in refrigerated storage cabinets
Inform supervisors when supplies are getting low or equipment is not working properly
Operate P.O.S. computer , including completing credit card transactions and making accurate change

Required for appointment:
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 3 years Food Service experience. Experience with National School Lunch program preferred

EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent
