VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT                                                                            JULY 6, 2022

To provide leadership, direction, and support in the area of special education compliance.

        Provides consultation and technical assistance to administrators and staff in the area of special education compliance.

        Facilitates the development and implementation of the local and State monitoring plans.

        Analyzes data to support compliance.

        Works collaboratively with coordinators, administrators, specialists, and support staff in supporting compliance initiatives.

        Coordinates and prepares documents relative to all areas of due process.

        Participates in IEP Team meetings and Due Process Hearings.

        Facilitates resolution sessions.

        Assists with preparation of informal settlement agreements, as necessary.

        Investigates complaints relative to IEP implementation and FAPE.

        Collaborates with MSDE regarding state complaints and provides required documentation.

        Works collaboratively with the Office of General Counsel.

        Develops and provides comprehensive reports to MSDE and federal agencies, as required.

        Facilitates and monitors system-wide Corrective Action Plans and provides oversight at the school and county levels.

        Provides oversight and supervision of the implementation of the MD Online IEP Program.

        Provides oversight and supervision to Special Education Evaluators, teachers, and support staff.

        Provides professional development to support compliance and legal mandates.



        Performs other work-related duties as assigned.





This is a twelve-month position with twenty (20) days of annual leave. Salary range based on the FY 2022-2023 APSASHC Salary Schedule for Administrative and Supervisory Personnel.

Grade 3 Salary Range: $121,708 - $147,036







·            Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in an education field.

·            Hold an Advanced Professional Certificate with an endorsement in Special Education.

·            Hold an Advanced Professional Certificate with an endorsement in Administrator I.

·            Extensive knowledge, understanding, and use of MD Online IEP Program.

·            Extensive knowledge and understanding of the Individual with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Maryland School Laws and Regulations pertaining to Special Education.

·            Five years of experience working in the special education field.

·            Extensive knowledge of all areas of disabilities.

·            Excellent written and oral communication skills.

·            Demonstrated leadership skills.

·            Able to work cooperatively with all personnel and the general public.

·            Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software and other related computer technology.
