Job Description

The Technology Coordinator & Teacher (TCA) will coordinate various technologies within the school and under appropriate supervision support the teaching and mentoring of LEAD students to become certified in a technology area. The TCA will help support providing training, knowledge, and skills in computer science and information technology areas to LEAD students. Students in the technology program will be exposed to a wide area of computer science and information technology theories and practices. The TCA with supervision by a certified staff will help provide guidance and academic support to students to facilitate course completion. The TCA will help evaluate and resolve student inquiries, issues, problems, and ensure appropriate action is taken to resolve classroom issues, carry out course evaluations and deliver course information that will meet standardized requirements for a technology related certification, supporting a certified technology teacher. The TCA will report to the instructional leader and the operations leader.


Qualifications and Certification

  • Urban school-based work experience preferred or demonstrated a commitment to closing the achievement gap.
  • Bachelor of computer science, information systems, or a related field; or equivalent field experience
  • Certification in IT related field
  • Speak English clearly and fluently.
  • Strong working knowledge of office equipment and computer programs such as Microsoft Office.
  • Success in developing and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders.
  • Firm commitment to and belief in LEAD Charter School’s mission.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask effectively and prioritize strategically.
  • Openness to feedback and willingness to take personal responsibility.


Duties and Responsibilities

Technology Coordination & Support

  • Develop/update technology plans and technology guides with guidance from the school leader(s) or supervisor.
  • Maintain accurate technology process charts and documentation to allow for effective technology systems.
  • With the support of outside services provides, install, manage & troubleshoot all information technology.
  • Includes laptops, computers, printers, projectors, interactive boards, local servers, and IS’s.
  • Manage user emails, web resources subscriptions, authentication accounts, etc.
  • Support SIS - Powerschool courses, student enrollment, schedules, data exporting and data report with the support of the school leader(s) or supervisor
  • Maintain IT request systems from request to follow-through.
  • Develop pre-service and on-going technology trainings for effective staff use and implementation.
  • Coordinate with teachers to integrate technology into lesson plans as needs arise.
  • Carryout other technology tasks delivered by the school leader or supervisor, as they arise.


Teaching support and other requirements

  • An ability to support delivery of classes during the day, the evening and/or the weekend
  • Experience using technology and interactive electronic materials to support teaching and learning 
  • Support with the Instruct the assigned course(s) in accordance with the approved curriculum, with appropriate supervision lead classes instruction
  • With supervision by certified staff, ensure that the quality and quantity of instruction provided in the classroom is consistent with the stated objectives of the school and industry. 
  • With supervision by certified staff, ensure that the classroom and school’s atmosphere is conducive to maximum learning and retention of students.
  • Maintain a daily record of student attendance and grades in accordance to school policy.
  • With supervision by certified staff, teaching experience is preferred, but not required. Knowledge of learning processes, curriculum design, test construction, teaching methodology and knowledge of technology practice in field related to CompTIA A+ /IT Fundamentals. Knowledge of and ability to teach topics in computer science and information technology field.
  • Excellent written and oral communication.
  • Good problem solving and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to motivate and work with a diversity of cultural differences students. 


Professional Responsibilities

  • Embody the mission, vision and core beliefs of LEAD Charter School.
  • Teach and enforce the school-wide, clearly defined systems, structures, and rules (including before and after school and during transition times).
  • Be available via phone and/or email throughout the evening and weekend to communicate with families, teammates and school leaders.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with NPS and families to coordinate bus transportation and distribution of bus tickets when applicable. 
  • Perform other tasks as may be assigned by the School Leaders in a timely manner.


12-month employee. Salary to be recommended by the school and approved by the board. 


Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the board's policy on evaluation.
