Job Description

Position: Nutrition Services Coordinator
                             Reports to:   Director, Nutrition Services
     Salary Schedule / Grade:   Refer to Administrator Salary Schedule
                      F.L.S.A Status:   Exempt
Under General direction and supervision of the Director, Nutrition Services, performs district wide work supervising and monitoring nutrition service operations at numerous schools. Work involves ensuring compliance of cafeteria operations with district, local, state and federal policies, procedures, rules, regulations, and guidelines. The work also involves ensuring the proper training of staff in food production skills, menus, identifying problems and recommending changes in methods and procedures.
Supervision is exercised over site managers and their staffs. Assignments are received orally or in writing. Work is performed independently in accordance with established policies and procedures referring unusual problems to the Director. Work is reviewed through observation and performance appraisal for adherence to established policies and procedures.

Supervises food service programs, operations, and related special events in assigned schools, reviews cafeteria operations in areas of record keeping, nutritional standards, food storage, food inventory, forecasting, preparation and service of food, sanitary standards and proper equipment use and care; identifies and recommends correction of operational deficiencies; informs and advises principals and staff on the interpretation, administration, and enforcement of program policies, procedures, standards and guidelines nutrition and food service programs.
Assists in planning, directing, and administering activities necessary to provide breakfast and lunch for students daily.
Works cooperatively with principals and other staff to carry out activities and service.
Works with community and school staffs to interpret and enforce policies, standards and requirements of the department, and all local, state and federal regulations.
Monitors school record keeping, forecasts, production records.
Monitors government reimbursement claims and billing of special programs.
Analyzes individual school foodservice operations regarding the management of money, labor, food, supplies and equipment.
Prepare reports; make recommendations to ensure proper operations, standards and procedures.
Monitors equipment performance, use, care and repairs.
Evaluates performance annually of all assigned employees.
Responsible for routine performance evaluation of all assigned locations and any necessary disciplinary action in compliance with the labor contract, and Board Policies.
Participates in preparing specifications for bids and quotes and food testing.
Attends regular department meetings and other meetings when requested.
Maintains required reports and records such as production, inventory, payroll, and training.
Any other duties as assigned.

Must be a U.S. citizen or have the legal right to work in the U.S.
A Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of experience in quantity food preparation with increasing managerial and supervisory duties.
Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, see, read, speak, reach, stretch with hands and arms, crouch, kneel, climb, and stoop.
Routinely lift, carry, push, and pull various items up to a maximum of forty (40) pounds.
Ability to work in refrigerated areas for prolonged periods.
Work is performed in a Cafeteria and Office environment.
Daily travel required to district facilities.  Mileage reimbursement is provided. 
Occasional out of town travel required for relevant training
Must be able to obtain SERV SAFE and Ohio Dept. of Health Level II Sanitation Certificate/ CPR/1st Aide certification within 60 days of appointment.
Valid Ohio driver’s license.
