MIAMI EAST CAREER CONNECTIONS DIRECTOR JOB DESCRIPTION      6-1-2022

This position is a part time position, based on the substitute pay schedule for Miami East Local Schools ($105.00 per day)

POSITION PURPOSE:
The Career Connections Director will be the primary liaison between local employers and Miami East High School.  The main responsibility will be to develop, market and facilitate programs that will encourage the appropriate skills and expand the workforce skill-set to meet the needs of the area businesses.

The Goal will be to secure full time employment for 10% of graduates at Miami East High School students who are planning to join the workforce or are undecided about post secondary plans. by June 1, 2022.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Substitute Teaching License

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Meet with all seniors at MEHS to determine post graduation plans.  
(on-campus first——career center & CC+ students TBD)
Determine which students are planning to join the workforce or are undecided about post secondary plans.
Facilitate and assist Seniors who do not have post-secondary plans to attend college with resume writing and submitting job applications.
Facilitate career inventories to students who plan to enter the workforce upon graduation.
Attend Miami County Business Advisory Committee meetings.
Take students to visit potential employers.
Organize employers to meet with students on MEHS campus. Facilitate visits by local employers to MEHS to meet with students about post graduation employment opportunities.
Facilitate positive relationships between local, county and regional employers and MEHS.
Work collaboratively with Mr. Gentis, Mr. Rutledge, Mr. Vanover and Mr. Rose to help communicate career connection opportunities with our students.

Coordinate, organize and attend meetings and/or events related to workforce development, including board meetings, classroom activities, county agencies and other related events.

Work with Apprenticeship Ohio, Edison State Community College, Miami Valley Career Technology Center, Upper Valley Career Center, and our local businesses to create pre-apprenticeship and apprenticeship opportunities in the county.

Facilitate monthly tours and visits of local businesses for students.

Work with seniors to develop skills needed to be a good employee, including interviewing, teamwork, and computer skills, along with the technical skills.
Maintaining an updated job posting page on the school website relevant to HS students seeking employment opportunities.

Development and execution of presentations to local students, parents, community members and community groups about potential workforce opportunities and career options in the county.

Maintain ongoing communication with students that plan to enter the workforce upon graduation.

Development and promotion of appropriate career events, job shadowing, internship
and/or co-op programs to students, parents, schools and businesses.

Develop metrics to measure results and success of the program (10% job placement
of seniors, monthly visits by seniors to businesses, industry visits to campus).

Research and benchmark other programs to develop innovative and best in practice
programs.

Development of programming that brings schools, students, parents and businesses
together

Evaluate and promote current programming in place and adjust accordingly
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in working with HR Departments
Five or more years of relevant experience in education/business development
Valid Van driver’s license (Miami East can assist in acquiring a license)
Alternative to the above qualifications as deemed appropriate
 
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITIES:
Working knowledge of an ability to operate a computer and Google Suite/Microsoft Office Applications, with an ability to become familiar with emerging programs and software.

Ability to maintain confidentiality of corporate information
Ability to maintain accurate records and files

Strong organizational, project management and problem solving skills
