Rate of Pay: $17.25/hour

Required Qualifications:
(1) completed two years of study at an institution of higher education; or
(2) obtained an associate’s (or higher) degree; or
(3) Completed a COMPASS score cut-off at 150. The score of 150 was obtained by determining a Reading score of 57, a Writing score of 50 and a Math score of 43 were appropriate subscores for passing the COMPASS; or
(4) obtained the Paraeducator Certificate through the Board of Educational Examiners. The courses for this certification can be taken through the AEA.  

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Previous experience working with students in a school setting.  Ability to work well under pressure, set priorities, and handle confidential matters while maintaining a calm demeanor.  The ability to greet and deal with school staff, students, and public appropriately and courteously. Provide instructions based on lesson plans and assist individual students in comprehending concepts. Assist with documentation for educational planning.  Must be able to communicate effectively with students. teachers, staff and in some cases parents.  Some additional professional development requirements occur outside of the regular work day throughout the school year.
