Job Description

Position: Network Systems Analyst - Support Specialist 
Category:  Classified Exempt 
Location: Technology Center 
Reports To:  Network Operations Manager 

SUMMARY: Responsible for assisting with support of district network infrastructure and enterprise systems. 


 
VISION: The Nampa School District Technology Department is relationship focused and we provide excellent customer service in a flexible and collaborative manner.  We are seeking an extraordinary person for our Network Systems Analyst - Support Specialist position.  This person must have a high work ethic and must be committed to the success of our students and teachers. 

 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Assist with supporting all NSD servers and data systems. 

Perform preventative maintenance and software upgrades on enterprise systems. 

Observe and identify current or potential problems within enterprise systems. 

Assist in performing adds, moves, and changes in AD and AAD for user and computer accounts. 

Responsible for maintaining and creating automation and query scripts against AD and AAD using MS PowerShell. 

Assist in maintaining internal network security. 

Assist with maintaining internet filters and firewalls. 



RELATIONAL WORK EXPECTATIONS 

Provide excellent customer service and assistance for all technology related issues. 

Adaptability and the ability to change rapidly is a must in our environment. 

Answer technology-related inquiries in person, over the phone, or by email. 

Give clear instructions and explain technology problems in non-technical terms. 

Assume responsibility for his or her continuing professional growth and development by such efforts as attendance at training or in-services. 

Seek assistance should emergencies arise. 

Represent the school district in a positive manner. 

Know and follow school district policy and chain of command. 

Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: 

High School diploma required. 

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or computer engineering, or current Microsoft certification in Azure and/or Active Directory. 

Minimum of five years’ experience in networking and working in data centers at an enterprise level. 


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: 

Extensive experience and knowledge in the following areas: 

Current Microsoft server platforms. 

Microsoft Active Directory and Azure Active Directory 

Microsoft 365 – Exchange 

Must be very knowledgeable with MS PowerShell 

Hyper-V and virtualization.  Experience with hyperconvergence a plus. 

IP switching and routing, and a thorough understanding of IP subnetting. 

Managing network services like DNS and DHCP on an enterprise level. 

Experience and knowledge in the following areas: 

Onsite and offsite backup systems. 

Firewalls and border security. 

SSL security certificates and certificate authorities. 

Network and systems monitoring using SNMP and WMI based platforms. 

Working knowledge of Microsoft computing and collaboration software. 

Current Apple OSX and iOS platforms. 

Experience with MS SQL a plus. 

Experience with IP telephony a plus. 


COMMUNICATION SKILLS: 
Ability to provide general district information and respond to questions from administrators, managers, employees, customers, and/or the general public in a professional and pleasant manner. 

PROBLEM SOLVING SKILLS: 
Demonstrate sound judgment by taking appropriate actions regarding questionable findings or concerns. 


PRODUCTIVITY/EFFICIENCY SKILLS:  
Ability to work effectively as a team member. Consistently demonstrates the ability to respond to changing situations in a flexible manner in order to meet current needs, such as reprioritizing work as necessary; organize job functions and work area to be able to effectively complete varied assignments within established time frame.  Needs to be a self-starter and have an ability to manage workloads. 

 
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: 
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.? Understand binary and hex conversion methods. 

REASONING ABILITY:  
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral and diagram form. 

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 
Knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software required.  Experience with the Microsoft 365 platform preferred.
