Job Description

This position will be funded through the end of the 2021-2022 SY through ESSER funding.  Full time salary will be pro-rated   


 


SUMMARY:  The Interventionist Teacher, for Math and English primarily and other subjects secondarily, facilitates the implementation of classroom intervention programs, provides special instruction to individuals and small groups of students with identified needs; and does other related functions as required under the supervision of the School Principal and/or Assistant Principal.  This position requires subject matter expertise and instructional experience to perform problem analysis and decision analysis to make decisions in determining how to best assist students in the learning process.  The role of the Interventionist Teacher requires the application and interpretation of data, facts, procedures, and policies; consequently, he or she must meet frequently with school administrators, other teachers, staff, parents/caregivers, and the community to communicate information, data, and alternative problem solutions.  The Interventionist Teacher must be able to perform at the highest “effectiveness” levels of the standards for teaching in Louisiana as outlined in the evaluation system and in the job description for Classroom Teachers.


 


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 


The Interventionist Teacher, shall have at least three (3) years of successful experience as a certified teacher in the respective content area(s) of which he or she will serve as an Interventionist Teacher.  The Interventionist Teacher should ideally possess a Master’s Degree or higher; however, a documented record of significant student achievement in one or more content areas and/or as a documented record as a teacher leader may substitute for a Master’s degree. 


 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  1. Provides individual and small group instruction designed to meet individual needs and to motivate students in pull out, push in, and/or the classroom setting.
  2. Provides learning experiences, in a technology rich environment, and teaches the course of study prescribed by the district’s approved curriculum.
  3. Develops lesson plans and use instructional materials suitable for the effective instruction of students with a wide range of individual differences.
  4. Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior required to achieve effective participation and learning in all activities.
  5. Provides appropriate instruction and activities for students to meet school and/or district policies, goals, and objectives.
  6. Maintains professional competence through in-service activities and other means for continuous learning.
  7. Maintains accurate, confidential, and timely records as required by the school, district, and/or state and makes appropriate reports as directed.
  8. Communicates effectively orally and in writing.
  9. Conducts student assessments to identify those eligible for intervention opportunities, to plan instruction, and/or to assist staff members in learning various assessment techniques.
  10. Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis to provide progress reports as required.
  11. Performs all duties as assigned.
