The School District of Washington is currently seeking a Health Aid.  The primary location for the position is South Point Elementary School however, responsibilities may be occasionally shifted within the District if coverage is needed at other locations. Pay range for this position is $11.85 - $15.33 per hour. Potential start date of 01/03/2022. POSITION SUMMARY (Primary purpose of job)


The school Health Aid is responsible for providing routine health-related tasks and clerical services under the direction of the supervising nurse to assist students and staff.  


 


SPHERE AND SCOPE OF INFLUENCE (Supervisory scope, district impact and budgetary responsibility)


The school Health Aid is responsible for supervising students while in their care and/or as assigned as well as implementation of student individualized health plans as directed by the supervising nurse. 


 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES (Major duties which the position exists to perform)


 


Assist the nurse with planning, preparation, and implementation of health-related information including staff notifications and training as applicable.   


 


Administer first aid to injured students and provides short-term care to enhance the comfort and safety of injured or ill students.


 


Administer and record medications in accordance with individualized health plans and District policy.


 


Consults with the nurse or or the Director of Health Services to ensure a working understanding of medications that are administered.


 


Takes and records vital signs, administers screenings as directed, and maintains immunization records, chronic health conditions, daily visits and health screenings for each student.


 


Completes clerical tasks such as state reports on immunization and screenings. monthly health reports,  and other reports and observations to the supervising nurse, Principal, Director of Health Services, and/or Child Protective Services, when appropriate/applicable.


 


Responsible for writing and filing employee accident forms; refers injured employees for appropriate medical treatment; works with the District Human Resources office to coordinate documentation and investigation of workplace


accidents.


 


Report suspected abuse, neglect, discrimination, harassment, etc. as directed by Board Policy and otherwise required by law.


 


Other duties as directed by the supervisor.  


 


OTHER DUTIES (duties which the incumbent can be expected to perform)


  1.   May be required to perform specialized procedures, after proper training, such as urinary catheterization, gastric tube feedings, diabetes management, and seizure disorder management
  1. Additional duties necessary to supervise students, monitor events, or assist in an emergency situation.    
  2. Attend building events such as open houses, curriculum night, informational meetings, and events designed to bring the public into the District.
  3. Occasional or sporadic duties such as taking tickets at an event, participating on an interview committee, covering a duty of a colleague, etc.
  4. Participate in professional development activities and/or work outside of the typical school work day and/or school calendar.

   


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES


Supervise students at all times and/or as directed by supervisor


Supervise events as described above and/or directed by supervisor


 


QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS (Minimum educational requirements, licenses, skills and experience required as well as preferred options)


 


High School Diploma and/or GED


60 hours of college credit and/or applicable training or license such as Patient Care Technician or Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA)


Current First Aid and CPR Certification preferred
