Job Description

TITLE:                                    Administrative Assistant - 50% Media 50% Guidance


BENEFITS:  Full benefits including paid holidays, sick leave and annual leave, health insurance and retirement.  Local supplement of 5.5% starts the month after completion of first year.  State longevity after 10 years of service.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. All applicants must be designated as “Highly Qualified”.  48 college credits or 7 credits in core subject matter and passing WorkKeys test scores.
  2. Previous experience working with students is desirable.
  3. Basic technology skills preferred.
  4. Such additional qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
 
REPORTS TO:                       Principal or designee, and the media coordinator
 
JOB GOAL:                           To assist the media coordinator in providing and implementing an effective media program for students and staff.
 
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

MEDIA:
  1. Responds to the needs and interests of students and staff under the supervision of the media coordinator. 
  2. Helps the media coordinator perform instructional tasks as directed. 
  3. Performs circulation tasks 
  4. Assists staff and students with the proper use of technology. 
  5. Supervises students and volunteers. 
  6. Assists students and staff as needed. 
  7. Performs technical tasks involving ordering, receiving, and processing materials. 
  8. Works with staff to gather appropriate materials for classroom instruction. 
  9. Assists with inventory of materials. 
  10. Shelves materials; keeps materials in order and accessible; and keeps the media center neat. 
  11. Keeps files in order and up-to-date. 
  12. Helps maintain equipment and repairs materials. 
  13. Performs other related duties as required by the media coordinator or principal.
  14. Types a variety of materials, such as letters, reports, student records, teacher tests, monthly reports, etc.  
GUIDANCE:
  1. Types a variety of materials, such as letters, reports, student records, teacher tests, monthly reports, etc.  
  2. Prepares materials for photocopying.  
  3. Places, receives, routes telephone calls, and records messages.  
  4. Orders and maintains supplies as needed.  
  5. Obtains, gathers and organizes pertinent data, as required, and puts it into usable form.  
  6. Assists teachers in preparing instructional materials as requested.  
  7. Maintains such records and reports as requested by the principal.  
  8. Receives and distributes mail as requested.  
  9. Performs various related clerical duties as assigned.
 
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:           Ten-month academic year; work schedule determined by the media coordinator and/or principal.  Salary in accordance with the adopted schedule.
 
EVALUATION:                                Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Classified Personnel.
